Every year, the Peck Foray unites lovers of mushrooms and other fungi for a weekend of collecting and identification.
It's been hosted since 1954 by a different volunteer organizer each year. This year:

The Peck Foray is open to all who are interested in fungi. Attendees traditionally include professors and their students, talented nonprofessional mycologists, and curious amateurs. There is no formal education program, only the joint collecting and sharing of interesting mushrooms and other fungi.

Cost:
$90 for those who stay at Brauer overnight.
$65 for those who sleep elsewhere but join us for meals (see below for nearby motels).

Please make out your check to Tim Baroni, indicate on the check that it is for the Peck Foray, and mail it to Tim along with your registration form. We can't guarantee there will be space for those who don't register beforehand.


Includes: Dinner on Friday (19th); Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner on Saturday (20th); Breakfast, Lunch on Sunday (21st), and lodging. Tim has found us a good chef! Tent camping is permitted on the grounds; there is no discount on the $90 on-site rate. There is room for about 40 people in cabins and the main lodge.

Bring your own: Towel, pillow, and sleeping bag or bed linens. Wear clothing suitable to avoid ticks!

Program: Kathie Hodge will present a Saturday night show: New Views of Fungi, that includes time lapse movies and other uncommon ways to observe our favorite fungi (but how can this possibly rival the Langermannia toss of 2003? we'll see).

Offsite Lodging

Hotels in the area... The closest hotels are on or off route 9W. They are located about 7 minutes from Brauer. All three are economy hotels, and from the outside look as such. The nicest of the three, by far, is the Comfort Inn.

If people are willing to travel 5 minutes farther, the selection, and class, of hotels increases dramatically. Here are some better (and probably more comfortable) hotels. They are located at the end of Route 85, across the street from SUNY Albany, about (12 mins) from Brauer.
